Controlling Neutral Fighters
Threat Level
Which player gets to take control of a neutral fighter at any given point in the battle is determined by the degree to which the neutral fighter is threatened by each player’s warband. This is referred to as threat level.
To determine a warband’s threat level towards a neutral fighter, count up how many members of that warband that meet both the following conditions:
- The warband member is visible to the neutral fighter.
- The warband member is within 5” of the neutral fighter or can draw a line of attack to it with any of their attacks.
Activating a Neutral Fighter
On a player’s turn, instead of activating a member of their warband, that player may instead try to activate a neutral fighter.
The player rolls a dice. If the result is equal to or less than their warband’s threat level towards the neutral fighter, they may not activate that fighter. Instead, the player whose warband has the lowest threat level may activate the neutral fighter. If multiple players have the same threat level, they roll off and the winner may activate the neutral fighter.
Neutral Fighter Reactions
When a neutral fighter could make a reaction, the player whose warband has the lowest threat level to it may choose what reaction to make, if any. If multiple players have the same threat level, they roll off and the winner chooses.
Spellcasting
Neutral fighters may cast spells, but instead of using the cards in a player’s hand must treat the face-up part of the magic deck as if it were their hand. Remember to replace spent cards after they have cast the spell.
